Every citizen, whether a mandatory reporter or not, should report suspected abuse. If you suspect any child is being abused, please call the Hotline for your state or area. You DO NOT NEED PROOF that a child has been abused or neglected to make a report, only reasonable suspicion. The authorities will determine if abuse or neglect is occurring. Violence Prevention from the CDC
In 1992, CDC established the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) as the lead federal organization for violence prevention. The Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) is one of three divisions within NCIPC. The Division’s mission is to prevent injuries and deaths caused by violence. DVP is committed to stopping violence before it begins (i.e., primary prevention).
Loveisrespect’s mission is to engage, educate and empower young people to prevent and end abusive relationships. They offer peer advocates, information, and advocacy to young people who have questions or concerns about their dating relationships, and to concerned friends and family members, teachers, counselors, service providers and members of law enforcement. Loveisrespect mobilizes parents, educators, peers and survivors to proactively raise awareness on healthy dating behaviors and how to identify unhealthy and abusive patterns. Through trainings, toolkits, and curriculum, we are growing community educators and advocates to promote healthy relationships and prevent future patterns of abuse.
It is the goal of the One Love Foundation to honor Yeardley Love by bringing an end to Relationship Violence by educating, empowering and activating campus communities in a movement for change. The site offers information on relationship violence as well as campaign and awareness materials.
The Vanderbilt Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning, a national resource center funded by the Office of Head Start and Child Care Bureau, is focused on promoting the social emotional development and school readiness of young children birth to age 5.
