The Monique Burr Foundation for Children (MBF) believes that children will only be truly protected when both adults AND children are educated and empowered to prevent, recognize, and respond to abuse and victimization with top quality programs that are both effective and practical.
Protecting children and teens from sexual abuse, bullying, and other types of victimization requires a 360° approach. This includes prevention education for children AND adults. It also requires stigma reduction, behavior change, and social norms change. To achieve this, we have partnered with Darkness to Light to offer the best, most comprehensive training opportunity for schools and organizations.
Darkness to Light (D2L), an international non-profit based in Charleston, South Carolina provides Stewards of Children® (SOC), an adult-focused prevention program that empowers individual adults and community organizations to protect children from abuse. To date, over 1.5 million adults have been trained with SOC demonstrating the commitment of adults and organizations to protect children. SOC is the only adult-focused, evidence-informed sexual abuse prevention program that has undergone third party evaluation. It features survivor stories, advice from experts, and practical guidelines for protecting children from abuse. The training is two hours in length and can be led by a facilitator or taken online, and it is available in English or Spanish.
If you are interested in providing 360° of prevention, please email the MBF team at [email protected] to learn more about the most comprehensive training opportunity available, and to receive a special offer.
